Pamper Yourself – Home Spa Treatment for Your Feet
It’s been said “”show me a grumpy person and I’ll show you a person with sore feet.” (No, this did not come out of a fortune cookie.) Sore feet can affect your productivity, your posture and your mood. Your feet are designed to carry your weight for thousands of miles over the course of your life. They are delicately designed instruments with more bones (54 bones in the feet out of 206 bones in the entire body) than any other part of your skeletal system. When you consider the interplay of muscles, tendons, ligaments and bones that your feet go through with each and every step, it is amazing that sore feet don’t happen more often than they do. Considering the amount of services that your feet provide your body every day, not to mention the abuse we typically put them through (bad shoes or fallen arches, etc.) Don’t you think your feet deserve some pampering? Surprisingly, it doesn’t take much. Here is a quick run through of a foot pampering routine that will make your feet feel appreciated.
Double Chocolate Cake – Easy
Prep Time: 30 minutes
Cooking Time: 45 minutes, plus at least 6 hours or overnight for cooling
Serves: 10-20
This cake is so wonderfully rich that many people can only eat slivers of it in one sitting. It is quick and easy to make, but be sure to leave enough time for it to cool down. This cake is a great dessert to make if you are planning to serve a lot of people.
This cake is made in a 10” x 3” spring form pan. Best of all it is gluten-free!
From a Client’s View – Learning about the Benefits of Reflexology
By Jonathan Shubow, Manager in the Digital Department with GateHouse Media, Inc., the parent company of Wicked Local. November 2012, Medfield Press
I hadn’t been working at Wicked Local very long when one day my boss came by my cube and handed me a note saying she recently received a telephone call from someone claiming to have gone to school with me and wanted to know if I was the same person now working at Wicked Local and would I please call her.
At the time I was the Web operations manager for all the Wicked Local websites, and my name was published on all our contact pages, and if you think you get spam, well, it seemed to me that my weirdo magnet was all of a sudden set to “HIGH”. Even though I only addressed technical issues and had very little to do with editorial, every nut who wrote a book, had an idea for a perpetual energy machine or was arrested recently, was bugging me. In fact I still get emails from someone who I call the “Rapture Nut” who wants me to publish his predictions on the “any minute now” coming of “The Rapture” which incidentally he has been predicting will happen next week for the last six years.
Celebration…Come on…..The Baby Has Arrived!!
The Magic of a Baby Growing Inside the Belly Not Only Captures Moms-to-Be but Curious Children Everywhere
ANNOUNCING THE RELEASE OF THROUGH MY MOMMY’S BELLYBUTTON
Through My Mommy’s Bellybutton is a delightful story written from the point of view of the baby inside the belly eager to join his family in the outside world.
We know expectant mothers want to share the excitement of the new baby with their family, but toddlers, preschoolers, or even early elementary age children aren’t always as excited about this blessed event. Help your children bond with the new baby and help them share in your anticipation and excitement by reading Through My Mommy’s Bellybutton with them!
This story can:
- Create opportunities for your children to imagine;
- Help young children understand where they were before they were born;
- Allow you to set the stage for the exciting arrival of a new child in the family;
- Help young children anticipate the arrival of a new brother or sister;
- Give you the opportunity to read with your children; and
- Encourage Family Bonding.
Children love it:
“Did I ride in a bumper car when I was in your belly?” asks Sarah C, age 5, of Franklin, MA. “Was there really a toy box in there or is that just pretend?”
“Helen’s book captivated the minds of both my boys, ages 2 and 4, with her fun take on what it is like to grow inside a belly. They asked me to read the book over and over again. When we were done reading, they had fun imagining what kind of adventures they had in my belly,” explains Erica of Plainville, MA.
CELEBRATION!
Please join Helen Chin Lui and her staff as they celebrate the release of Through My Mommy’s Bellybutton. On May 4, there will be a Launch Party and Book Signing at the Healing Place, 50 North Street, Second Floor in Medfield, MA with light refreshments and books available for sale. There will also be children’s activities including a book reading, a fun discussion about what they think happened while they were inside their mommy’s belly, and an opportunity to draw a picture about the experience. Come help Ms. Chin Lui celebrate and pick up a copy of the book just in time for Mother’s Day!
Can’t Make the Celebration? -Another way to help launch the book is to join my Amazon Campaign for “Best Seller” by purchasing the book on or by May 8th by going to amazon.com (I love seeing my name on Amazon.com as a book author.) The book is also available on Kindle! I’m so excited about this project. Book writing has been something I have wanted to do since I was a teenager (many decades ago.) Please forward my celebration to your friends.
A percentage of the profits for each book will be donated to the children’s charity, Grow Clinic! Ms. Lui says, “the Grow Clinic at Boston Medical Center helps children and their families work on the issues surrounding low birth weight and continued lower growth, partially through education.”
Purchase on or by May 8th to help me make the “Best Seller List”!
Proper Oral Hygiene for Better Health
(NewsUSA) – Most of us know that oral hygiene is critical to healthy teeth, white smiles and first impressions. But not nearly as many are familiar with the extreme consequences of what can happen if you don’t take care of your mouth.
Most individuals have some inflammation of the gums — i.e. gingivitis — that goes unchecked. A study published in the National Library of Medicine reports that 10 to 15 percent of adults will develop severe periodontitis, which is an advanced form of gum disease that begins to deteriorate bone, too.

Charka – Who Has an Energy field?
Our auras contain all of the information that is available about our bodies, personalities, and emotions. That is why, when you meet someone, you get an immediate impression of that individual. That is where the phase “I like your vibe” came from. If you sense the person has healthy energy you will allow the person to come into your aura. If the person feels “yucky” or “unhealthy,” you will shy away. The aura also holds all of the information about a person’s past and present. What you may be picking up could be that person’s moods.
Transforming Health Research on the High Plains
(NewsUSA) – Ned Norman is a rancher. Maret Felzien is an English professor. And conventional wisdom says neither is likely to help healthcare research become more meaningful to patients and caregivers.
But Norman and Felzien, and their rural community in eastern Colorado, are doing just that through the High Plains Research Network (HPRN), a partnership of rural hospitals, clinics and primary care practices that are improving the care they provide to patients through research and quality improvement programs.

Chakra Balancing and Your Aura
Aura is the energy that surrounds everything, living and non-living. Non-living things have a slight aura that is equal to the energy being emitted. A hot table will give off a stronger aura than a cold table; a wood table will put out a stronger aura than a glass table. With living creatures, there are seven layers to this egg-shaped energy.

The Incredible Kiwi Fruit
(Warren Wellness) By Lauren Warren, nutritionist
Other than the facts that “Kiwi” is just a fun word to say, and there is something fun about a fuzzy fruit, Kiwifruit are a well-kept secret in the nutritional bonanza department. Kiwifruit is an excellent source of vitamin C, with twice the vitamin C content of oranges. In fact, in a study conducted at Rutgers University, which evaluated the nutritional value of 27 different fruits, kiwifruit came out on top, providing the most nutrition, ounce for ounce. They are a good source of magnesium, have plenty of potassium, and two medium kiwifruits boast about 5 g of fiber (that’s a lot). Kiwifruit also offer up respectable amounts of copper, phosphorus, and the antioxidant vitamins E and A. Antioxidants?…YES!…that means that they reduce oxidative stress (damage from free radicals) in the body which is a key factor in the progression of aging & cancer, among other things. And, more great news is that the EWG put kiwifruit in the “Clean Fifteen” which means that buying conventional kiwi is fine; no need to spend the extra cash on organic for this nutrient-dense fruit!
What is Body Inflammation? And Do you Have it?
What is Body Inflammation? Inflammation is your body’s first response of body inflammation the immune system to an infection or irritation – whether from your diet, lifestyle or environment. Think of what happens when you catch a cold. You may experience inflammation in the form of a fever as your body heats up to eradicate the effects of the invading virus.
Did you know that inflammation is the common link between such debilitating conditions as Alzheimers, heart disease, cancer and arthritis? Did you know inflammation is thought to be the culprit behind the visible signs of aging? Inflammation is a wellness buzz-word these days, and for good reason. If you reduce inflammation in your body, you’ll not only look and feel younger, but you’ll significantly lower your risk for chronic disease!
